Accurately Track the Source of your Job Applies

Accurately Track the Source of your Job Applies Accurately Track the Source of your Job Applies Accurately Track the Source of your Job Applies How effective is your current recruitment strategy? Can you accurately track how job seekers are finding your job postings? Was it on a job site, a social network, in an online search, or was it? Without accurate candidate source data, your company may be wasting valuable recruitment advertising dollars using the wrong strategy. Many companies suffer from this data gap in tracking the source of applies. Yet the solution requires minimal effort, with no risk to your companys current recruitment strategy. The solution is to automate your candidate source tracking. Take the Guesswork out of Apply Sourcing Traditionally, applicants are asked to select from a long list of confusing and often incorrect sources during the apply process. The resulting sourcing data is often inaccurate. To address this issue, many ATSs have developed functionality that automatically adds source tracking tags to job apply links. These tags accurately track the candidate source and eliminate the need for a long drop-down menu. By automatically pre-filling the candidate source, applicants come away with a more efficient apply experience one that provides your organization with accurate source data. How Tracking Works Automated tracking is simple: during the posting process at your ATS, a unique tag is added to the end of the job apply link. This tag tracks the apply source that corresponds with each of the sites you are posting to. For example, here is a job URL without a tag: https://sample.url.net/careersection/00000/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en By adding a tag to the end of the job URL, the apply source can then be tracked: https://sample.url.net/careersection/00000/jobsearch.ftl?lang=ensrc=JB-11180 The tag is generated by your ATS system a common practice for large company ATS providers. While this option is easy to execute, its often overlooked during the ATS training process. Take the Next Step A growing number of ATSs, have added automated candidate source tracking to their off-the-shelf offerings, including those used by enterprise companies as well as smaller companies. You can determine if your current ATS supports tagging by speaking with your ATS contact, or by filing a service ticket with your ATS provider. Once the tagging is implemented, its best to test the functionality by submitting some sample applications from a few job postings or ads. After this process is in place, be sure to ask your ATS contact how to access your sourcing data reports. This information will help you more effectively allocate your future recruitment budget.
